ABOUT Threading

Threading has been a common technique for temporary hair removal in Asia and the Far East for Centuries. It is a popular treatment in the West with the quick rise of threading and brow bars opening up across the country. Threading is a natural method of hair removal and is mainly used for facial hair removal. Considering there are no standardised method of threading its worth practising a few different methods to see which suits better.

Course suitable for:

  • Skill level: Beginner

  • Person requirements: No pre-reqs

  • Suitable for: Beginners looking to start-up, therapists looking to add to their treatment menu.

Pre-requisites:

There are no pre-requisites required to do this course.

Learning Skills & Objectives: Delivery Method in-person

History of treatment, benefits of treatment, consultation, contra-indications, contra-actions to treatment, relevant health and safety and hygiene, related anatomy, and physiology, threading treatment procedure, aftercare.

  • Maintain safe and effective methods of working when providing threading services

  • Consult, plan and prepare for threading services.

  • Remove unwanted hair using threading techniques.

You will need to maintain effective health, safety, and hygiene throughout.  You will also need to maintain your personal appearance and demonstrate effective communication and consultation skills.

Assessment:

The assessment process combines a written theory test and practical observation to demonstrate knowledge and understanding and a practical ability when providing Threading Treatment Services.

Case Study Requirements:  A minimum of 2 Case Studies are required.

Course Duration CPD: 8 hours (1 days) - 9.30am - 5.30pm (with an hour lunch break)

Venue:Sleeping Beauty Academy Head, 42-44 Academy Street, Inverness, IV1 1JT

Class size: Our class sizes are kept small, just 4-6 learners, to ensure a positive learning experience.

Start-up Kit: Threading start-up kit is available to purchase at an additional cost, please view itemised list of what is included.

If you require a kit please make this known in advance and prior to training to allow for delivery, can be sent out or picked up on the day of training.

Requirements on the day:

On the day, we will cover the theory elements of the course, and you will be provided with a short course manual and case study forms.You may wish to take your own notebook/stationery, refreshments, you will have access to our kitchen/bathroom facilities.

Uniform:Please take your salon uniform with you to wear during all practical activities, alternatively black trousers/leggings & a black short sleeve top.

Training Models: Models will be provided so no need to take your own and a fully qualified assessor will observe you throughout and feedback will be provided. 

Course Completion:

To receive your BABTAC Accredited Qualification you would need to meet all the learning outcomes and performance criteria that meet the BABTAC Accredited Standards. On completion, you will receive a Sleeping Beauty Certificate and to follow a BABTAC Accreditation Certificate.

BABTAC Accredited - This qualification is internationally recognised with both employers and insurance companies, meaning on completion of the course you will be able to work professionally straight away.

Sleeping Beauty Academy is situated in the Inverness city centre and close to all local amenities. The training academy is a 4min walk from the train station and taxi rank and a 2min walk from the bus station.

Eating/Drinking Places: There are lots of places to eat and drink from corner cafes, pubs and bars to 5 star restaurants.

Accommodation: Best to book in advance to secure accommodation, particularly at peak times, as we reside in the heart of the city centre there are a good choice of places to stay to suit all budgets with easy access to different modes of travel nearby.

Car Parking Facilities: The nearest parking is at the Rose Street Multi-Story or Eastgate Shopping Centre, both are approximately £5 per day.
