If you cannot work due to illness you must notify your salon manager by telephone at least 1 hour before you are due to start work.
You cannot text or use social media to alert of your absence.
You must call on each working day of the first 7 days that you are unable to attend work, and on the first working day of each subsequent week until you return to work.
You must speak directly to your manager or another salon manager or appropriate person if they are out of the salon. Make sure you have a list of appropriate contacts i.e. salon phone numbers or you managers direct telephone number.
You must give us the reason you are unable to attend work.
On your return to work you must complete a ‘Return to Work form’ on the day of your return. This can be completed in advance on Loop and your manager will then discyss it with you to welcome you back and establish that you are fit and able to return to work safely.
If you have been off for more than 3 days you will need a self certification form from HMRC and if it is 7 days or more you must obtain a doctor’s note.
Where patterns of absence emerge and there are concerns regarding the frequency of absence an informal interview with the employee should be arranged. Where an employee, in any 12-month rolling year, has 6 or more absences a meeting with a manager will be arranged to discuss the levels. If it is over 12 absences in a rolling year this may result in performance management and eventually disciplinary action if there is an ongoing concern with no improvement.
If you know you will be absent in advance you must obtain your managers prior written permission as far in advance as possible for any absences not due to incapacity or injury. This would include a pre-arranged appointment for Doctor, Dentist etc and these should be arranged for days off wherever possible.
